Response to "The Weight"

" I wanted to write against this, and so I was writing a history of the people I did not want to forget."

Ghanah talks here about how there are people out in America the black community gets treated this certain way and that makes him think of this certain type of death. With that he wants to go in the opposite direction of talking about the sadness aspect of his community, but rather celebrate them. He wants to talk about the achievements, the glory of the people in his life that have impacted him, and in a way thank them.
